Busy Kids

Well the day started with Lilly showing us her new "hat" if you can't tell it is a diaper! haha

Biggie has become stronger and a little bit mobile, so the days of putting him in the swing or laying him on the mat and getting some cleaning done are over. In the past he would not go in any sort of sling or carrier, it made me crazy because it is really hard to get things done while holding him and helping Lilly - I really need my hands haha. Almost every morning after Lilly eats breakfast I clean the floors, well John has having no part of not being held so I got the carrier out for him to try. and....
It FINALLY worked!!! I vacuumed, cleaned the floors and even put a couple loads of laundry in, it was great!

Like I said before biggie is getting more and more mobile...he starts on his back playing...
Then rolls overs...

And scoots around! I am REALLY about to be in trouble, having them both mobile and into to everything is going to be CRAZY!

This afternoon we headed outside to play, before Lilly could get into the yard to run around, we really needed to mow the yard. Both kids were awake so we found a way to make it work!
Biggie hung out in his swing...

I put Lilly in the backpack carrier - which is fabulous! I highly suggest everyone get one. It was not heavy at all!
After we finished the yard, Lilly got to run around a little while before taking her afternoon nap:).

Last Minute Trip

This past weekend Pinckney and a bunch of his friends from Ole Miss had made plans to spend the weekend at Talledega for the nascar race, this track is about 45 minutes from Mi Mi and Dzia Dzia's house. Thursday night we were all sitting down having dinner and Pinckney asked what I had planned for the weekend, and we had nothing going on, so he suggested that the kids and I get in the car with him and stay in Birmingham for the weekend! We left Thursday night around 9pm and got there around 3am. Big Love slept the entire ride and Lilly was awake the whole time haha she just watched movies the whole way over:).

We all had a great weekend. Sunday afternoon was so nice we put Lilly in her new bathing suit and turned on the hose for her to play in the backyard.

Lilly and Dzia Dzia were bug hunting before we played in the water.

Sunday morning we got up and Mi Mi and I headed to the nascar race, the kids stayed at home with Dzia Dzia:). We had pit passes so we got to meet some of the pit crew chiefs and see the signs that the drivers use to pull into the pits and get up close and personal with the cars!

Saturday morning Dzia Dzia and big love got up early and took a nap on the couch so I could sleep for a little while. When Lilly got up she discovered that the couch was the perfect height for her to climb on by herself! :)

We also made brownies and Lilly had a blast! She loved licking the spoon. After all that chocolate she needed some water, then she had to wipe her mouth to clean herself up:).

After a long weekend of playing Mi Mi gave the kids a bath after dinner and Dzia Dzia and Lilly watched a little TV before bed.

Doctor blues

John at 4 Months:
14lbs 13 oz
26 inches long

Do you ever feel like you are talking and nobody is listening? Or that you are like a dog chasing its tail? I have been running in circles for the last month with the new doctors office we decided to try for the kids. Easter weekend the kids started getting sick, 2 weeks later they were still sick and getting worse. I would call and call a different nurse called me back every time and tell me that they both had allergies and not to worry and to only make an appointment if the kids temperatures spiked. In the beginning they told me to give it 5 to 7 days because it was probably just a virus if it was not allergies. (which I found out later, a child can not even develop allergies until they are at least 6 months old, so they were blowing me off about big love!)
Well 10 days later on a Thursday I spoke to the nurse about Big Love because he was not sleeping and was having trouble breathing- she said since he was not running fever there was nothing they could do. Lilly still would run fever during the day so I made an appointment anyway. we got there and the doctor was with us for about 2 minutes before telling me that this is just the way a 15 month year old acts. WHAT?! The next day was Big Loves 4 month check up, the doctor said that he had an ear infection and possible whooping cough. again WHAT?! Then told me that they had to wait for his results to put Lilly on the antibiotic that they were going to put him on. By Sunday Lilly had stopped eating and Monday morning so was so lethargic it was like picking her off the floor to do anything! So we headed back to the doctors office. We got there and they did not as much as take her temperature and told me it was viral and I had to wait a couple more days. I told the doctor that she felt warm to me, and still they ignored me. As we were in the room, Lilly laid on me with her head on my chest...that is NOT Lilly, but they still ignored me. I was so mad when I left there I came home and took Lillys temp which was 101.5. And as I was taking her temp she just fell asleep - you know a child does not feel well if you are taking their temp rectally and they fall asleep!!! So I called back up there and let them have it, they told me again to give it another day and just try to push fluids.
Wednesday, she was still not eating so I called back up there told them that she needed to be seen and I was not coming up there for them to tell me that she was fine, because she wasn't, this is now 3 weeks of being sick!!
We got up there and the doctor walked and said well it must be a nasal infection so we will give her antibiotic - he was in the room maybe 5 minutes. They ran no labs etc, had no idea what they were treating her for but i didn't care anymore she had an antibiotic and i was hopeful that it would finally help.
That night her fever was back up and she had the chills so bad her lips were purple. That night I went in her room to check on her and the fever finally broke. By Thursday morning she began eating and Thursday night she was doing much better. Thank god!

I am sharing this because our old pediatrician would have NEVER let it go this far. Talking to a different nurse every time was frustrated and got us nowhere. We will never go back to this clinic if we can help it and I am trying to get back in with our old pediatrician. The moral is, trust yourself and make the doctors listen to you when it comes to your kids!

On a funny note, this is a photo of Lilly during Big Loves appointment. She decided to get in the bottom part of the stroller! haha

Nosey

Before I put Lilly in her bed we sit in her chair, say our prayers and even sing a song or two:) Tonight while "we" were saying our prayers Lilly took the time to start playing nosey with me and thought it was hysterical! haha I couldn't help but laugh, and of course I happened to have my camera on me so I took a few photos of us playing before bed haha. How I had the camera before bed I don't know but I am glad I did:).

I couldn't leave Biggie out of the fun, so we took a couple together as well.

Gentlemen START YOUR ENGINES!!

As some of you know we are fans of Nascar:) Mi Mi is obsessed with Nascar haha. Recently, she and Dzia Dzia went to an indy car race in Birmingham, when they realized that Lilly, being the dare devil that she is and she LOVES to drive her barbie fourwheeler already, would be an excellent race car driver. :) So they sent her her first race car jersey. I have to admit I am disappointed that it is Danica Patrick, we ARE NOT fans of her, but we do like her in the jersey and it turns out she really likes it as well. (I am thankful Mi Mi did not send a Jeff Gordon jersey!!) haha She walked around this morning holding it, then put it on one arm for awhile finally I helped her put it on:).

I have tried a few things to reward Lilly with and although she LOVES cookies and sweets, I think doesn't really think of them as a real treat since she has one after dinner every night. But I discovered something she loves and I can get her to do just about anything for haha capri sun! haha they make flavored water and she loves it!! We painted this afternoon and I promised her one if she would cooperate, and she did! haha

Dinner time!

I forgot to share the photo we took of Lilly having her first McDonald's happy meal:). I know most people would not be proud of giving their child this food but she looks cute so we think it is fun haha.

Now during dinner time, I sit Lilly in her seat and give her dinner, then I put biggie in his bumbo seat and feed him cereal. Here is what dinner time looks like when Pick is out of town:). (notice no food for mommy haha I eat when everyone goes to bed haha)

We are working on Lilly eating with a spoon and fork, today I realized while she was eating yogurt we might have a lot of work a head of us...
