Hello everyone! I really like this whole blog thing, I am making new friends at my new school but I really miss spending my day at home with my mommy. :). So I will make up that time that we are missing together at 4am. That is when I am REALLY at my best.

Sunday Afternoon

After a long nap!!! Lilly played with her animals for a while....

Then put her shades on for a long walk...what a GREAT afternoon!!!

2 Month Check Up

Lilly had her 2 month check up on Thursday and Pinckney took her. I had to work so I could not go (this whole thing is going to take a lot of adjusting! hah) anyways pretty funny story. Well funny for me now, not for Pinckney then! haha
So I put some extra formula in her daycare bag for Pick to take her to the dr. I figured she would probably get hungry and that would calm her since he would be by himself. Well I didn't think of was diapers. haha They keep the diapers on a self in her room so I didn't even realize that I was sending him out with no diapers! Well of course Lilly had a REALLY dirty diaper that happened to come out of her diaper and all over Pick, her outfit etc. He had to go into the bathroom and clean her up and put her in a new sleeper with no protection and prayed that she would not go again before he could get her home. OOPSS!!!!!! haha but she did make it home. ahha
Anyways he now weighs 10lbs 11oz, and is 23 1/2 inches long...my baby is LONG!! and her feet are so big they are too big for a 3 month sleeper!! haha

Sleeping Together

When Lilly was spitting up so much during the night I moved her into the bed with us. She would sleep in a co-sleeper that laid between Pinckney and I in the bed. Well Lilly has always been such a wiggle worm that sometimes we would wake up to her sideways on the co-sleeper kicking one of us. haha Friday night was a new one on me, I woke up and she was next to me, between the co-sleeper and me. she had wiggled her way down, out of the sleeper and up next to me. This is a STRONG baby!! ahha
So we are going back to the bassinet. Last night she did pretty good expect by 4am so had decided she was not really wanting to sleep anymore. So I was up from about 4 till 7:30 when Pinckney took over. But I have to tell you that when I set her down in her usual spot in the bed on her back she started smiling! that little monkey has my number for sure!

Daycare Blues

As a teacher we often talk about how we are with our students more then their parents are, at times we even have talked about how we are the influence in our students life. Well one night this week I picked Lilly up from daycare came home and by 6:30 she was sleep. Before her bath or any night time routine we had been doing. All of the sudden it hit, someone else is raising my child and it is not me! They are feeding her, setting her schedule, helping her sleep and calming her when she is upset, and it is not me! Talk about a blow to motherhood.
I am lucky that i love my job. Being at work really is fun and makes leaving her not so bad, but that makes me feel guilty. People keep telling me that if I can get through the first week it will get easier...but my stomach hurts now knowing that it starts all over again tomorrow.
Pinckney is going on the road this week so it will be a true test of my patients and tolerance. This weekend Lilly has decided not to sleep, either she is on a different schedule that she was (which is probably the case) and we have not adjusted to her new day or she was just SO happy to be home that she wanted to not sleep and hang out. Need less to say I am sitting here counting the minutes before she wakes back up and had a complete meltdown.
Between trying to get work done, the house cleaned and take care of her all on no sleep I feel like I don't stand a chance. Did I mention I REALLY need to excersize and how do you fit that in? Working moms out there...how do we do this?!?! I checked my email for the first time in a week this morning and only got to a couple before she was up again.

Here are a couple of photos from the weekend, Pick and her watching TV maybe one day she will understand what she is watching hahah.

First Day of School

Well it is a time honored tradition that on the first day of school, we would put on our new crisp uniform, fill our brand new back pack and hold our perfectly fixed lunch and smile for the camera. Usually we were really tired and hated taking these photos but I see now why my mom insisted on having these keepsakes.
So today was Lilly's first day of daycare, school is closed for Presidents day so this was a dry run. So for the last week I have been carefully making, and labeling and buying everything she  might need to get through each day. I even bought a stuffed bunny and I have been sleeping with it so it would smell like me so she would not get lonely. :(
Well....Needless to say I had a complete Mommy meltdown. It was REALLY hard, I started crying when I walked into the nursery and just stood there like an idiot not knowing what to do with everything I had so carefully packed. Miss Amy was VERY nice about the whole situation and Pinckney put a mobile together for her and hung it on Lilly's crib so she would have something to look at. (She LOVES laying in her activity mat and staring at the animals and since they don't have that at the daycare we thought this would be a good alternative) Finally he took her kissed her goodbye and laid her to sleep in her new crib.
IT SUCKED! but anyways, here is Lilly's first, first day of school photo. ps I would like you to notice that her hair is WILD and we love it!!!

Much better mood!

We decided to take another try of the photo with Lilly and her bunny. As you can see both Lilly AND the bunny seem to be much happier about taking this photo! haha

Here is a photo of one of Lilly's birthmarks. This one covers her left forearm. We are going to Children's Hospital on March 16th to talk to a doctor about having it removed. Our pediatrician has set up the appointment and from what we understand they will use a laser to remove it. Pretty crazy how they can do this, I will keep you all posted as we know more.

My first pair of bell bottoms

For christmas  Maw Maw gave Lilly first pair of bell bottoms! I am a HUGE fan of bell bottoms so I could not wait for her to wear them. So Mi Mi and I dressed her up in her wild outfit for a day of shopping for Daycare supplies. As you can see her and Sweets was very jealous of her outfit, they just kept looking at each other! By the way I would like everyone to notice how much Lilly is LOVING her bumbo chair!!

Happy Valentines Day!

Well Lilly had her first Valentines Day and as you can see it was a great success! We had a great week with Mi Mi and celebrated Valentines on Thursday night with her, then on Saturday her Daddy gave her Valentines flowers, a balloon and a teddy bear!  Doesn't she look so small next to all of her goodies!! haha

For Valentines Day Lilly gave her Daddy a mug with her hand and foot print on it (as you can see above), and a photo book she made on Shutterfly.com of all of her firsts. He loved it!

Monkey toes and fingers!

So we are always saying that Lilly has skies for feet and monkey toes and fingers haah because she will hold you with her toes and loves to hold hands. We also laugh that she is like Ricky Bobby because she never knows what to do with her hands.
Anyways, I put her in the car seat on Saturday and when I had her all snapped in she managed to stick one little finger out of the buckle! ahah Oh she really is funny to me. ahha

Growing by the Day

I can not believe how quickly Lilly is growing!! Her hair is getting wilder by the day and I have to admit the wilder the better in my book! haha Here are a few photos we took the other day time is flying and I go back to work in a week. Wow!

Why is it that photos of your child screaming really makes you laugh? Does anyone else agree? haha She had CLEARLY had enough of me trying to get her to pose for the camera! haha The bunny looks just as sad ahha

The Truth about Formula

Well I have to take a minute to warn all of you new mothers about the truth about formula. Don't get me wrong I am SO happy that we have formula, but I had NO idea how hard it was going to be to find the right one. Everyone tells you that breastfeeding is best and has tons of info and support systems for it etc but there is no warning for how hard finding the right formula can be. For all of you that do not want to breastfeed, can not breastfeed, have had enough or are ready for move past it be ready! haha For the three weeks we have been really struggling to find a formula that Lilly can handle.
We started with milk based, and she was spitting up as much as she was taking down. So we called our ped nurse and she switched up to Soy based. A lot of babies can't handle the milk when they are small, so they have to have soy based.
She was able to stop spitting up but this made her stop going to the bathroom. You can't imagine how much pain this put her in. We have been working on this for 2 weeks. We have had to use suppositories, pear juice, karo syrup, warm baths, helping her push you name it we did it. And the pain continued. As if the screaming is not bad enough but to know she is so uncomfortable and you can't do anything about it is SO hard.
Here is the deal with Soy based formula, you have no choices. With milk based you can pick one if your baby is gassy, one if she has a sensitive tummy, one if you need more iron etc there are so many choices but with soy you have one. So if that is all your baby can have you have to make it work. Which sucks.
Yesterday our doctor switched up to a new formula called Nutramigen. Within one day I can tell a difference. This morning not only did we get to play for a couple of hours with her in the BEST mood, last night there was no screaming. It has only been a day but so far so good. She can finally go to the bathroom and keep her formula down. She has been smiling all day, what a difference a day can make. We still have a few days to find out if this one is going to work but we are VERY hopeful. Here is the drawback, there is no generic and it is the most expensive formula out there. Go figure, a child of Pinckney and I wanting the most expensive food HA! Hey I would pay all the pennies I have to get this worked out!!

This is your baby on the wrong formula               This is your baby on the right formula!

haha Ok I hope that makes you laugh as much as it did me!!

My Sweet Pea

It is absolutely amazing how protective Sweet Pea has become of Lilly. She does not want anyone to get near her and she makes sure that the other dogs do not bother her. Last week when Pick was in TX for work I had gotten up in the middle of the night to feed Lilly and Sugar tried to get on the bed with us, Sweets jumped up and nipped Sugar and made her get off the bed! If Lilly is not in the bed then Sweets could care less if the other dogs are in the bed with her.
As you can see these two are big buds!

I Painted Pottery!

Lilly and I had the BEST day on Monday. We went to a place called Firefly Pottery and painted pottery! I can't wait to do more, as you can see she had a great time! haha She would sleep for a little while and let us paint her foot or hand and stick it on things then eat a little. She did SO good. At one point the great girl that was helping us and I had to laugh, I had Lilly in one hand, my cheek was holding the bottle to her mouth and I was painting with the other hand. ahha We had a lot of fun! I can't wait to do it again and as she gets older it will be even more fun!

My First Car

This is Lilly's First Car! I put this together yesterday and I thought she might be a little small still for it but she LOVES it!!

She loves it so much she decided she was going to just close her eyes for a minute behind the wheel. Haha!!

Happy Birthday Mommy!!

Last week I turned 28, what a year it has been!! Pinckney and I spent Friday night at the Peabody and went out downtown and had a GREAT time! Here is a photo of the duck walk at the Peabody and a photo of the view from our sweet. We went to a wine bar and out to dinner, it was a really great night! By the way, a little fact about the duck walk at the Peabody; it was started when the owner of the Peabody in Memphis and one of his buddies came in from Duck Hunting in Hazen, AR. They had a too much to drink and thought it would be funny to put their live duck decoys into the Peabody fountain, they then went to their room passed out and by the next morning everyone was in love with the ducks!!

Elizabeth and Eva brought me this birthday cake to enjoy on my birthday:)

Lilly stayed at her Gran's for her first spend the night without us. She had a really great time! But she decided that night that she was missing us and we missed her!!!
