Beware of Child

Yesterday I was in my bathroom getting ready to run some errands as Lilly was chasing Sweet Pea around the house - she was laughing and carrying on so I thought the two of them were having a great time. They ran into the bathroom and then back into the living together and when I got out there this is what I found...

apparently Lilly was having a much better time then Sweet Pea, I guess Sweets was running from Lilly and not trying to play with her. But as you can see she thought it was SO funny!

Comfort

Much like Lilly, Big Love has had a lot of stomach problems and what little formula he has, has to be Nutramigen which we hate! but if it works then it works. So I thought I would share some of the things we have found that work for colic, reflux, gas etc etc etc.

The first is the right formula - which for us is nutramigen, this is non dairy, non soy etc and the most expensive formula on the market - of course. haha

The next thing that we have found is the right bottle - I can not put a price the amount of money we have spent on trying bottles and formula! I just gave away so many Dr. browns bottles it makes me sick, but I think we have finally found a bottle that works for Big Love. It is called the Tommee Tippee bottle. We use the bottle for fussiness, gas, and anti-colic I could tell a difference with the first time using it.

This is our newest find. It is called the Nap Nanny, it was made for babies with reflux or ear infections. It works great! It props him up so when he is congested it helps him breath or after he eats it helps with his reflux because he is sitting up. It is great for him to just sit in as well if he is in the mood that he will sit still.

Another must have is Mylcon gas drops. With Lilly we had to put them in every bottle and with Big Love we are starting to put it in every one of his bottles and he is finally getting some comfort.

Go Go Powerwheels

Lilly loves her barbie four wheeler and is so good at driving it! ahha Sunday afternoon we decided to get her outside and let her drive it a little in the street and around the yard while big love was taking a nap. We had as much fun as she did! And yes she is in her pjs driving, but like I said before things get to be a bit of a challenge with two and we don't always get out of our pjs. I am embarrassed to say Lilly went to a birthday party in her PJs on friday because I didn't think we were going to stay, but we did and she has a great time wearing them haha. Don't worry maw maw I promise I will do better about getting her out of her PJ's - she does where sparkly shoes with everything if that makes you feel better - and she left the party wearing a necklace with her pjs. Which I need to return to Ella haha.

A bit of a challenge

I have never said that I didn't like a challenge but I have to say going ANYWHERE with two kids at these ages is quite a challenge. Lilly no longer wants to just sit in the stroller, she wants to run all over the store, he usually has a major blow out as soon as we get anywhere that requires a full clothes change and car seat pull out. One of them or both of them usually are screaming for something and did I mention that I only have two hands? I thought I would show you what it looks like in a perfect world when we try to go out. haha

When we are at home it is a little easier because if they are crying or screaming you can let them while you tend to the other one but there are times you just have to hold both.

Big Love

We have gone back and fourth on what to call John, because John just doesn't fit this little boy. So after going through every name possible and months of over thinking this we have decided and somehow have begun calling him Big Love. HA! it makes me laugh every time I share this info with anyone, and that is the best part. I can just picture him when he is in high school and we are screaming from the stands at some game "Go BIG LOVE" haha it makes you smile doesn't it?! by the way the child smiles so much it makes up for how much he screams haha

My Buddy .... My Buddy

Does anyone remember that commercial where they would sing, my buddy my buddy, my buddy and me. haha It was for a doll that where ever you went the buddy doll went. That song comes to mind when I see these two together. Everyone asks how Lilly has adjusted to having a new brother, and really it is like he has been here all along. She loves to love on him and bring him things, or she will just get on the ground and roll around with him. :)
She has taken a very Strong liking to all of his toys! The other day we found her in his bouncy seat....hey he really likes it why wouldn't she? And she keeps keeps getting back in it!

Irish Eyes are Smiling

There is a great irish shop in South Bend that has all kinds of goodies for a good little irish girl. And every little irish girl needs an irish plaid:), lilly loves hers.

Sweet babies

While we were trying to get Lilly to eat, we decided we didn't care what it was as long as she was eating something....so Pinckney gave her one of our favorites...Milk and oreos! SHE LOVED IT!!

John is a huge love bug, we have even started calling him big love:) He will hold on to you for dear life so I gave him this monkey lovie and he loved it instantly.
I just loved this photo of Lilly with her Minnie mouse ears:)

Sick Kids

The past few days have been quite the adventure! Wednesday Lilly began running a fever, we gave her Tylenol and waited to see if it went away. Thursday morning her temp was still over 102 so off to the pediatricians office.
Lilly was very kind to try to share her cheerios with her baby brother:).

The doctor could not put her finger on what exactly was wrong with Lilly, she said it was viral and told me to keep a close eye on her and if she got worse she needed to be seen again. So we headed home, when we got home things went from bad to worse. Lilly refused to eat and after a short nap she woke up and could not breath - she just kept gasping for air. We then met Pinckney at Children's hospital. All day John had been sneezing but I was told it was just a reflex and not to be worried. The Doctor that tended to Lilly told Pick that if he runs fever above 100.3 her needs to be seen immediately.
By Friday night he was running fever of 100.9 and was having trouble breathing. He and I headed to the emergency room where we were put in isolation and every test you can or can't imagine was run on him. Around 2:30 am they admitted him to the hospital and his congestion was worse, his temp was up and he was refusing to eat.
I was told that best case scenario we would be able to leave in 48 hours, but there was a strong possibility he was going to get worse before he got better.
He immediately started IV antibiotics which worked like a charm! by that afternoon his temp was down and that night he really began eating again. The doctors came in on Sunday and felt so good about his progression we were able to go home Sunday night.

We were giving Lilly whatever she wanted just to get her to eat something. This was pretty much goldfish and cheerios everything else she would spit out or scream.
Saturday morning her Gran came to take care of her so Pick could join us at the hospital, and Saturday night Mi Mi got here to stay and help. And Lilly began eating again...THANK GOD! haha
Both kids are still battling runny noses and coughs but fevers are down and we are eating again so the worst is hopefully behind us. :)
